Hawkesbury Primary Schools Sports Association

Hawkesbury Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) provides opportunities for students at public primary schools in the Hawkesbury to compete and represent in a variety of sports. Students skilled in a particular sport will be nominated to attend selected trials for the Hawkesbury District and Sydney West Regional teams. Students in Years 3-6 also participate in Hawkesbury District Gala days throughout the year.

School carnivals

Athletics carnival

Our school athletics carnival, at which all of our students compete in a range of track and field events, is held in Term 3.

Our students participate in long jump, discus and shot put as well as running races. There are also lots of chants and cheering from our house teams to encourage our competitors.

The athletics carnival also provides selection trials for older students to qualify into the school athletics team for the Hawkesbury District Primary Schools PSSA Athletics carnival.

Cross country carnival

Our school cross country carnival is held in Term 2 on the school grounds and involves students in Years 2 to 6.

Students compete in an event based on their age. It provides selection trials for older students to qualify into the school cross country team for the Hawkesbury District Primary Schools Sports Association PSSA cross country carnival.

Swimming carnival

Our annual swimming carnival is held in early February at Richmond Pools for students in Years 2 to 6. Students who are 8 years old that year are then eligible for selection at district and state levels within the Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA).

Ty's sport clinics

Ty’s sport clinics promote a fair and non-competitive environment where our students are encouraged to reach their full potential. The activities and team games aim to provide our students with not only more confidence physically, but also socially, emotionally and cognitively.

Our students thoroughly enjoy participating in Ty's clinics. Some of the sports Ty covers in his clinics include hockey, volleyball and fitness.
