Kurrajong Public School supports children experiencing learning difficulties.
The school has a dedicated Learning and Support Assistant Principal who leads the Learning Support Team (LST). The team consists of the principal, school executive, school counsellor and learning and support teacher (LaST). The LST meets weekly to ensure that the needs of students are being met by working collaboratively with classroom teachers and parents to:
- identify and assess students experiencing difficulties in learning
- plan, implement, monitor and evaluate programs for students with learning difficulties.
Learning support is provided through:
- consultancy, training and development with other teachers
- withdrawal of students for intensive instruction, monitoring and assessment of progress
- team teaching and support for parent helpers.
Our school is committed to working with Aboriginal parents and community members in developing personalised plans for our Aboriginal students.
If parents have a concern relating to their child's learning they are encouraged to speak with the class teacher as early as possible.
