Additional opportunities and activities

Dance group

Our dance groups are a very popular and important part of creative and practical arts. Students can unleash their creative flair through dance and have fun!

At the beginning of each school year, students on years 3-6 have the opportunity to audition to be part of our school dance groups.

Our dance groups perform at local Eisteddfods as well as special assemblies and concerts within our school community. The groups rehearse during lunch times once a week.

Music

Band

Kurrajong Public School has an excellent band program. It was first established in 1995 by Mr Bruce Fairhall (Principal) and Mrs Lindsay Wanstall and continues to remain an important element of our school culture.

From Year 3 onwards students can become part of this outstanding program, training with a professional music teacher and performing in many different venues. 'The Music Guy'  teaches the students each Wednesday in our school hall. Our band performs at the K-6 Assembly, Education Week, Presentation Day ceremony and a number of community based concerts including the Hawkesbury Music Festival and Richmond Marketplace.

Band is an extra-curricular activity, for which the school does not receive funding to operate. Therefore belonging to the band holds a financial commitment and all members pay tuition fees. For further information please contact our school.

The passion and enthusiasm our students and teacher have for music and its importance in our education ensures we are a valued group in our school.

Choir

Kurrajong Public School offers many wonderful opportunities for students who love music.

One of these is being a member of our school choir. Our well established and respected school choir consists of students from Years 1 to 6. Anyone who loves to sing can join and we always get a wonderful group of children who really enjoy being part of the choir.

The choir meets weekly to learn new songs and further develop their understanding of musical concepts. Our choir director is Miss Rush. Our choir performs at school events such as the K-6 Assembly, Education Week, Presentation Day ceremony and a number of community based events.
